Task
A big industrial bakery Intereuropol exports its bread products to many European countries and sells them to the largest European retail chains. Its state-of-the-art production methods are the reason why Backtechnik, the leading international trade magazine for the bakery industry and bakery chains around the world, named InterEuropol Production Company of the Year (2015).
In 2014, InterEuropol was considering to build a new conventional aerobic wastewater treatment plant. However, the initial design was area-consuming and supposed very high exploitation costs due to estimated sludge production. Our team proposed the high-end technology of DIGEFLO™ in order to deal with the assumed COD levels and additional goals: to lower energy consumption, to produce valuable biogas and to save space and, at the same time, to make the treatment processes safe and of higest standards.
Innovation
DIGEFLO™ (anaerobic flotation technology) and a MBBR-BNR aerobic plant were designed and delivered by our team in order to meet the challenge. Such configuration allows to treat high COD wastewater, reaching even 30.000mg/l with TSS up to 5000mg/l without earlier separation. The plant can produce even ten time less waste sludge, in comparison to conventional wastewater treatment plants preceded by commonly used Dissolved Air Flotation. As we use our proprietary DIGEFLO™ separator, the plant can achive over 90% of COD reduction after anaerobic digestion process. The MBBR-BNR (bionutrient removal) plant is used just to reduce residual COD and nitrogen to the levels required by CLASS A effluent. So as to save space our patented Effisep™ settler is used after MBBR. Biogas is reused in dual fuel boiler. The plant is fully automated and remotely supervised by SYMBIONA team.
